If you have not seen this yet, I greatly recommend you watch this video. As a music aficionado, I can honestly say that this is the worst song that has ever graced my ears. The music video portrays the so called pop star Rebecca Black lip syncing her hit song "Friday" doing absolutely pointless things with her pre-teen friends. Certain screenshots show kids obviously under the legal driving age commandeering expensive cars. The lyrics to Friday lack any creative genius. They are no more than a repetition of trite, and meaningless sayings or a monotonous grocery list of things the average pre-teen or high school student does every day. The auto tune is horrible and does a horrible job of covering up Black's lack of vocal talent. I feel bad for the grown man, with his extremely lame rap verse, who was somehow convinced to be in this video. He is easily 20 years older than everyone in the video and something tells me that his music career is pretty much over after this faux pas.

The amazing thing about this video is the fact that it has over 6.5 million hits. What's even more amazing than that is the fact that it only took the video less than 5 days to reach that number. Now, I have a feeling that most of the viewers probably watched the video for it's extremely lame production techniques and it's oh so catchy lyrics. But, sadly, deep down in my soul there are people watching this video who actually think this song is good. I feel bad for those people. The song has became such a viral hit that it even got the attention of CNN and other news sites, such as Billboard and Rolling Stone. People have torn this girl apart. The comments on this video are absolutely ruthless. Although the song is terrible and funny, the kid is 13 years old and deserves some credit. People should be less harsh on her. Therefore, I will not criticize the artist. She has enough to deal with, she doesn't need my two cents.
The song was produced by Ark Music Factory, which is a production company that accepts teen pop stars who have hopes of reaching stardom. The people of Ark Music Factory should be a shamed of themselves. In fact, all pop music record labels today should be ashamed. The music industry is no longer a product for the people. It is a business that grossly produces meaningless and mindless dribble in order to make as much money as possible and do it quickly. Nothing is pure anymore. Everything produced by major record labels is auto tuned and fake. I encourage you dive deep into the music world and find actual artist who take pride in their work. Find pure music that presents a crass-less message. Go forth.
X Marks,
ReplyDeleteThis is close-to-excellent blogging on a mindless viral video - go figure - ha.
To make excellent:
1. See if you can recover that missing JPEG.
2. Shrink your video to fit the screen, yes?
3. Put a space in between each paragraph for better readability.
Go for it,
