Transworld: Snowboarding's Best

Transworld Snowboarding is a magazine that is purely about snowboarding. Within this magazine there are several articles about snowboard gear (mainly advertisements and reviews), snowboarding locations, and interviews of people who are in the industry. One aspect of transworld that I really like is how artistic the magazine is. For example, there are several large scale photographs that depict tricks, or beautiful landscapes.

Transworld Snowboarding is owned by Bonnier Corporation. Bonnier corporation is one of the largest magazine corporations and is owner of most major outdoor magazines such as all the Transworld sports, SKI magazine, and Outdoor Life. Transworld Snowboarding is releases a new issue once a month.Transworld's website is extremely impressive. At first glance it might look busy and inundated with articles and advertisements, but the website is surprisingly easy to navigate. At the top of the page, there are several sections such as videos, photos, gear guide, and a how to section.

Another interesting feature that this website provides is the resort section and the girl's sections. The resort section lists the several sections based on multiple categories such as best overall resorts, best parks, and best half pipes. The girl's section displays all female oriented sections like women's gear, videos, and photos.

There is no current issue section, however there is an online ordering section at the bottom of the page. Here you can subscribe or renew your subscription. Transworld Snowboarding also has Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube accounts. The Twitter and Facebook accounts are purely related to Transworld Snowboarding, whereas the Youtube account has videos from all of the different Transworld sports.

Transworld uses the media power tools in an interesting way. There magazine is always outlined in a bright color, usually a light blue, orange, or red. The magazine always has a large scale photo on the cover. The bright colors and photograph triggers our limbic brain because we must process the images and colors. The articles and other texts are processed by our neocortex or thinking brain. One persuasive technique used by Transworld is the plain folk method. By using uncomplicated language in their texts, besides the use of some jargon, the articles can easily by read by anyone.

Transworld Snowboarding is the perfect magazine if you are a snowboarding fiend, or if you are interesting in snowboarding at all. The websites may seem busy, but it is easy to navigate and find what it is you are looking for. Personally, I love watching the videos on their website. They are very well edited and produced. The photographs are works of art and depict awesome landscapes. If you love to snowboard or interested in learning how to, pick up a copy of Transworld and give it a serious look.

  1. This is an excellent oral magazine presentation on TRANSWORLD, Marc.

Fine use of our power tools - you are correct re: the power of images and colors in marketing the "brand" that is TW.

I wonder why there is no 'current issue" section?

You did a fine job of tricking out your analysis.

Sorry that Blogger won't give you some photo space.

    Curse them.

  2. 21 followers, and a bit skinny on the total number of posts/deep analysis, Marc.

All of which earns you a good assessment for your blog for this semester.

Could've been excellent - if you had expanded and completed all power tools-related mojo.

    Thanks for an engaging semester.

Keep blogging, and enjoy your summer!
